Trim Levels

The all-new Ford F-150 Lightning is available in four trim levels: Pro, XLT, Lariat, and Platinum. Every F-150 Lightning comes in a crew-cab body style with a 5.5-foot bed. Differences between the four trims include the battery pack, interior materials, and technology options. Depending on the trim you choose, various packages allow you to further customize your F-150 Lightning with different options, such as a sunroof, towing enhancements, or advanced driver-assistance features.

The fully electric F-150 Lightning has much in common with its gas-powered cousin. A fully boxed high-steel frame with substantial cross-sections provides a durable base for the truck, while its 8.4-inch ground clearance protects the battery and other components. Without an engine, the front of the truck becomes a trunk, known as the Mega Power Frunk, where you can store tools, equipment, and other items. The handy frunk also comes with four electrical outlets and two USB chargers, allowing you to power your tools and electronics anywhere you can drive.

The Ford F-150 Lightning comes in a variety of striking exterior colors, so you're sure to find one that fits your personality. Available colors for the truck include:

  • Atlas Blue.
  • Star White.
  • Rapid Red.
  • Iced Blue Silver.
  • Agate Black.
  • Antimatter Blue.
  • Carbonized Gray.
  • Iconic Silver.
  • Oxford White.
  • Stone Gray.

There's more to the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning than its good looks. Every F-150 Lightning comes with two electric motors and all-wheel drive. The standard-range battery outputs 452 horsepower, while the extended-range battery, which comes optional on lower trims and standard on the F-150 Lightning Platinum, generates 580 horsepower. The dual electric motors produce an impressive 775 lb-ft of torque, allowing the truck to handle even the toughest of jobs.

The F-150 Lightning may get its name from its lightning-fast speed. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in around 4 seconds with the extended-range battery and reaches peak acceleration in 0.6 seconds. The truck's independent road suspension and low center of gravity ensure a smooth ride. The F-150 Lightning offers four drive modes — Normal, Sport, Tow-Haul, and Off-Road — so you can optimize the truck's performance in varying terrains and road conditions.

Whatever you're hauling, the F-150 Lightning can get the job done. Models with the standard-range battery have a 7,700-pound towing capacity, while the extended-range battery boosts this number to 10,000 pounds. The truck's payload capacity reaches 2,000 pounds for standard-range battery models. Optional towing packages offer a host of other helpful features, including backup trailer assist, which controls the steering wheel while you use a knob to indicate where you want the trailer to go.

Range and Charging

You can go further in a Ford F-150 Lightning without having to worry about charging. The truck boasts an impressive 320-mile range with the extended-range battery, while the standard-range battery offers a 230-mile range per charge. You can charge your F-150 Lightning with standard 120-volt or 240-volt outlets or visit a public DC fast charging station, which can provide up to 80% charge in 44 minutes. Ford's Intelligent Range system factors in weather, traffic, payload, and towing weights to keep you informed of an estimated driving range.

Similar to its exterior, the interior of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning largely matches the gas-powered F-150 truck. The F-150 Lightning seats up to five passengers comfortably with plenty of leg and shoulder room. The rear seats flip up to provide convenient under-seat storage. An interior work surface, which comes standard in every F-150 Lightning except the base trim, transforms the center console into a mobile office by providing a space to work on your laptop or tablet.

Seating surfaces vary based on the trim you choose and include cloth, leather-trimmed, or premium leather. Besides the base trim, every F-150 Lightning has power-adjustable driver seats, and the two upper trims offer driver seat memory and heated and ventilated front seats. Standard dual-zone climate control means you and your front-seat passenger can individually adjust the temperature to help you stay comfortable, no matter the weather.

The 2022 F-150 Lightning comes equipped with the latest Ford technology and infotainment. A 12-inch touch-screen display comes standard, and the Lariat and Platinum trims feature a larger 15-inch touch screen. A standard 4G Wi-Fi hotspot connects up to 10 devices, and the system integrates with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so you can access your phone apps, audio entertainment, and maps. The Ford F-150 Lightning comes with a standard six-speaker audio system, while the Lariat and Platinum models come equipped with premium Bang & Olufsen stereo systems.

The 2022 Ford-150 Lightning comes loaded with plenty of safety and driver-assistance features, providing peace of mind when you're behind the wheel. Every F-150 Lightning comes with front, seat-mounted, and side-curtain airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, and roll stability control. Other standard safety features include:

  • Automatic emergency braking: This feature will warn you if the truck detects a potential front-end collision and will apply the brakes in certain situations.
  • Blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert: If the truck detects a vehicle in your blind spot when you're reversing or changing lanes, this feature will alert you so you can proceed safely.
  • Lane-keeping system: If you unintentionally drift outside of a lane, the lane-keeping system will make gentle steering corrections to move the truck back into the center.
